Me

I'm a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a teacher. I love spending time with my family. My husband Matt and I chose to live by the lake where we met because it was equal distance to both of our families.

We love our quaint lake town. In the summer it's full to overflowing with vacationers visiting the numerous antique shops, playing on the beaches, swimming in the lake, shopping at the farmer's market or unique shops, dining at the local restaurants, or boating. When summer comes to an end things quiet down and we get on with winter.

The lighthouse and museum located on the public beach.

My son Michael keeps us busy, especially now that he is a freshman. I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around that one. This summer he's been to France and England with me and a group of students from my high school. He's also attended football conditioning every morning as well as football camp in Pennsylvania. Band practice begins soon and he will have to juggle that with football. Michael plays drum in his spare time. Within the next week or two football two-a-days begins. It's been go, go, go around here.

Speaking of football we're HUGE Ohio State Buckeye fans. Every Saturday during football season you can find us screaming at the TV (like they can hear us) and watching the game. We're so bad that friends and family know NOT to call during game time. Sundays we're Steeler fans, much to the disappointment of other family members.

During the school year, I spend time in my classroom. Actually, I've already been going to school to get ready for my new freshmen class. I teach ninth grade language arts. I absolutely love this group of kiddos. They're still fun and eager to be in school. I'm always on the look out for innovative ways to capture their attention and making learning meaningful and fun. This year I have the opportunity to co-teach with another teacher from my building. We've been meeting once a week to prepare for the fall. We're both excited to be working together.

Sometimes teaching can be stressful so I try to find time to relax at home. I love working in my yard, especially with my flowers; I get that from my grandmother. We also have bird feeders in the back yard, and we enjoy sitting on the back porch watching all the activity. The back porch is where I spend much of my time reading, crocheting, writing, or grading papers. Sometimes Isabella, my Yorkie, ventures out on the porch with me. But mostly it's my cat Sebastien's territory. He loves bird watching and batting at my yarn.

Sebastien is a Hemmingway cat with seven toes on one front  paw and six toes on the other.

Isabella loves to play outside, go for walks, and bike rides

Thank you for popping by. I hope you find something enjoyable or useful here in my little corner of the world.

I love my great grandmother's glider in our backyard.
